About us

A small studio that takes the time to understand

Avientiq Labs is a software engineering studio based in Limassol, Cyprus. We are deliberately small and deliberately senior, and we have been building software for businesses since 2014.

Our story

How we got here

Every studio has a founding myth. Ours is mostly a lot of projects, a few hackathon trophies and many conversations with clients who wanted someone to listen before quoting.

  1. 2014

    Where it started

A mix of corporate engineering jobs, hackathons, startups and incubators. Seeing the same problems from very different sides gave us a broad view of what technology can do for a business, and how often it lets people down.

  2. 2017

    First clients of our own

We began taking on freelance projects, training teams and supporting clients after launch. Those early projects taught us that listening properly at the start saves months at the end.

  3. 2019

    A wider network

Partnerships with specialists and companies we trust meant we could take on bigger and more varied work, and bring in the right expertise without growing a large payroll.

  4. 2023

    Avientiq Labs Ltd

With years of production experience in fintech, data and cloud behind us, we formalised the studio and started looking for harder problems to solve.

  5. Today

    Data, AI and regulated industries

Most of our work now sits where data, cloud and regulation meet: platforms for fintech firms, data foundations for AI, and senior engineers inside teams that need them.

What we believe

Understand, focus, evolve

These three words were on our first website and they still describe how we choose, plan and do the work.

01

Understanding

The hardest part of most projects is understanding the problem, not writing the code. So we spend real time with the people involved, learn how the business works and make sure we are solving the right thing before we solve it well.

02

Targeted focus

Once the problem is clear, we go after the part that matters most and leave the rest for later. A small release that fixes the real issue beats a large one that fixes everything a little.

03

Evolving

Technology moves quickly and nobody keeps up with all of it. We keep learning on purpose, through certifications, side projects and hackathons, so our advice reflects how things work now rather than five years ago.

The team

Senior people, and a trusted network

We keep the core team small so that the people you meet are the people who do the work. When a project needs a specialist we don't have, we bring in someone we have worked with before and vouch for.

Between us we have spent well over a decade in production systems: trading and brokerage platforms, financial market data, health monitoring prototypes and the first versions of new products.

Credentials across the team

  • Databricks accreditation as a platform architect
  • Certified Ethical Hacker
  • Professional Scrum Product Owner, Scrum.org
  • Python programming certification, Python Institute
  • Corda certified developer
  • Innovation and people's choice awards at hackathons

We also give time to STEM education, because the engineers we will want to work with in ten years are at school today.

Where we are

Limassol, Cyprus

Our studio is in Limassol, on the south coast of Cyprus. We work in English and Greek and overlap comfortably with office hours in the UK and across Europe.

Most of our work happens remotely, with clients in Cyprus, Greece, the UK and elsewhere in Europe. When a workshop or a difficult conversation is better in person, we are happy to travel, and clients in Cyprus are always welcome to visit.
